Dotphoton, the Swiss imaging company behind the popular Rawsie photo compression software, has announced that it will be bidding farewell to Rawsie in its current form. The closure comes as Dotphoton shifts its focus towards its award-winning Jetraw software, which is used by camera manufacturers, scientific instrument developers, autonomous vehicles, and space companies.

In a statement to Rawsie users, Dotphoton expressed its appreciation for the support of its community and announced that Rawsie licenses will be cancelled automatically at the end of the billing period. Users with yearly licenses will still be able to use Rawsie and receive support until the end of their billing period, while those on a lifetime license can continue to use Rawsie as normal.

The closure of Rawsie is a sad announcement for many photographers who have relied on the software to compress their RAW files and save storage space. However, Dotphoton has promised that the move is a step towards something truly remarkable.

“We know this might come as a surprise, but it’s a step towards something truly remarkable,” said Boris and Marina of Rawsie. “Jetraw is based on a more advanced technology than Rawsie, it’s truly future-proof using the latest technological wizardry including AI. And now we want to focus on bringing its advantages to the photography market too.”

While the closure of Rawsie may be disappointing for some, Dotphoton has promised that Rawsie functionality will be added to Jetraw technology in the future. This move will take some time, but Dotphoton encourages its users to stay tuned if dealing with RAW images is a headache for them.

“We want to make this transition as smooth as possible for you,” said Boris and Marina of Rawsie. “We are releasing the newest Rawsie, and encourage you to update your app to the latest version to address the changes.”

For any questions or suggestions for Jetraw to suit your needs, Dotphoton encourages users to reach out to team@rawsie.co or their Instagram.
